How it actually works

Why Stripe Connect matters

With Connect, the connected account (you) is the merchant of record. Payouts hit your bank directly; if OLM vanished tomorrow, you'd still have your Stripe account and customer relationships intact.

Subscriptions done right

Recurring billing plans with trials, proration on mid-cycle changes, and self-service cancellation for members. Members see payment history in the app; you see subscription health in the admin dashboard.

Refunds and failed-charge handling

One-click refunds from the admin portal. Failed charges trigger the Stripe-default dunning sequence (emails, retries, grace period). Members see a clear status in the app.

Honest platform fees

2% on memberships ($2 minimum), 3% on seminars / merch / drop-ins, $0 on in-gym POS. The fee comes out of your payout, not on top of what members pay — your member-facing pricing doesn't change.

FAQ

Billing questions, answered

Do I need an existing Stripe account to use OLM?

No, but you'll create one as part of onboarding. Stripe Connect onboarding is a few minutes — bank account, EIN or SSN for the business, and ID verification. Charges land in your Stripe from day one.

What happens if a member's card fails?

Stripe's dunning sequence kicks in: a retry one day later, again three days later, again seven days later, with a notification to the member each time. After the final retry, the subscription is marked past_due and the member's access goes into a configurable grace period.

Can members update their own payment method?

Yes. The mobile app and web member portal both expose a Stripe-hosted payment-method update flow. Members can swap cards without contacting staff.

How do you handle refunds and the platform fee?

When you refund a member, the OLM platform fee is automatically reversed in proportion to the refund amount. Stripe's processing fee is non-refundable per Stripe's policy (true for every Stripe-based product).

Can I run promotional discounts and coupons?

Yes. Each billing plan supports discount codes that members enter at signup, percent-off or fixed-dollar, with optional expiry. Coupons can be limited to first-month, first-quarter, or recurring.

Do you handle ACH and bank transfers, or just cards?

Stripe Connect supports both — credit/debit cards on every plan, and ACH bank transfers in the US (often preferred for higher-priced plans because the per-transaction processing fee is lower).
